This is a piezoelectric Sensor disk that is used to pick up sound from musical instruments and devices. This is made up of selected copper which ensures excellent conductivity and long-lasting use.

As it gives out analog output you can connect the output to a comparator circuit to give out digital output or you can connect an ADC to directly connect to the microcontroller you are using. It can be easily installed and suitable for many kinds of instruments like acoustic guitars, and drums as it is small in size and reliable enough to handle any rough use too.

A piezoelectric sensor, transducer, or buzzer with a 35mm diameter is a device that utilizes the piezoelectric effect to convert electrical energy into mechanical vibrations (or vice versa).

Here’s some information about this product:

  1. Application: Piezoelectric sensors/transducers/buzzers find applications in various fields such as automotive, medical devices, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and more. They are used for sensing pressure, acceleration, vibration, and generating audible alerts or tones.
  2. Principle: The piezoelectric Sensor effect is the property of certain materials to generate an electric charge in response to applied mechanical stress, or to generate mechanical stress in response to an applied electric field. This makes them versatile for both sensing and actuation purposes.
  3. Dimensions: With a diameter of 35mm, this particular sensor/transducer/buzzer likely fits into medium-sized applications, offering a balance between sensitivity and physical footprint.
  4. Output: Depending on its configuration, it can produce electrical signals proportional to mechanical stimuli (sensor), generate mechanical vibrations in response to electrical signals (transducer), or produce audible tones or alarms (buzzer).
  5. Frequency Range: The frequency range of operation depends on the specific design and application. Piezoelectric devices can operate at ultrasonic frequencies for sensing applications or audible frequencies for sound generation.
  6. Materials: Piezoelectric Sensor materials commonly used include ceramics like lead zirconate titanate (PZT), certain crystals like quartz, and polymers like polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).
  7. Installation: Typically, these devices are mounted securely onto surfaces using adhesive or mechanical fasteners. Care should be taken to ensure proper alignment and coupling for optimal performance.
  8. Voltage Requirements: The operating voltage for piezoelectric devices varies depending on the specific application and design. Lower voltages are common for sensing applications, while higher voltages may be necessary for generating audible alerts.
  9. Environmental Considerations: Piezoelectric Sensor devices may be sensitive to temperature variations and mechanical shocks. Proper housing and protection may be required for reliable operation in harsh environments.
  10. Customization: Depending on the manufacturer, customization options such as frequency tuning, housing materials, and electrical specifications may be available to suit specific application requirements.

Here are some common uses of a piezoelectric sensor/transducer/buzzer with a 35mm diameter, listed in points:

  1. Pressure Sensing: Detecting changes in pressure for applications such as automotive tire pressure monitoring systems, industrial process control, and medical devices like blood pressure monitors.
  2. Vibration Monitoring: Monitoring vibration levels in machinery and structures to detect potential faults or structural integrity issues in industrial equipment, bridges, buildings, and more.
  3. Ultrasound Imaging: Producing and detecting ultrasonic waves for medical imaging applications such as ultrasound scans for diagnostics in obstetrics, cardiology, and other medical specialties.
  4. Liquid Level Sensing: Detecting changes in liquid levels in tanks or containers for applications like fuel level monitoring in vehicles, liquid level sensing in industrial processes, and water level monitoring in environmental monitoring systems.
  5. Touch Sensing: Detecting touch or pressure on surfaces for user interface applications in consumer electronics like touchscreens, buttons, and switches.
  6. Acoustic Signaling: Generating audible alerts, tones, or alarms in consumer electronics (e.g., alarm clocks, appliances), automotive warning systems, security systems, and industrial equipment for signaling purposes.
  7. Ultrasonic Cleaning: Generating high-frequency vibrations for ultrasonic cleaning applications in jewelry cleaning, dental equipment, and industrial parts cleaning processes.
  8. Energy Harvesting: Converting mechanical vibrations or strain into electrical energy for powering low-power electronic devices or wireless sensor networks in remote or inaccessible locations.
  9. Structural Health Monitoring: Monitoring structural health and detecting defects or damage in civil engineering structures such as bridges, dams, and buildings.
  10. Gas Ignition: Generating sparks for igniting gas burners in appliances like gas stoves, water heaters, and barbecue grills.
